WeSports acquires leading Finnish bicycle wholesale company Huntteri

The strategic partnership will considerably strengthen WeSports’ presence in Finland as well as cater for a swift Nordic roll out of Huntteri. "Together we will become more competitive both in Finland and the Nordic countries as a whole”, comments Juho Huttunen, CEO of Huntteri.

Huntteri is a Finnish industry leading bicycle wholesaler and import company, working with independent bicycle dealers, sport stores and purchasing chains. Huntteri´s customer base consists of over 700 Finnish retailers. Huntteri also has a considerable presence in the Baltic countries and Germany. Huntteri has shown consistent, profitable growth since inception, with sales exceeding 36 MEUR in 2022.

Following the acquisition in Huntteri, WeSports' pro forma consolidated turnover surpassed 2 BSEK for 2022.

Huntteri distributes and acts as agent for a number of the world's top bike brands such as for example Orbea, Superior and Rock Machine as well as accessories and parts by e.g. Abus, BBB, Giro, Bell, Blackburn, Michelin, Hamax, Super B and Zefal. Huntteri also has its own line of brands, with Madison and Evon within bicycles and 1FirstGear within accessories.

"We are thrilled to announce the acquisition of Huntteri, a leading bike wholesale company known for its exceptional expertise in the bike segment. I am personally impressed by their professional management and well-structured organization. Huntteri boasts one of the finest factory networks in Europe, which will undoubtedly strengthen our position in the market and allow us to continue delivering innovative and high-quality products to our customers. We look forward helping Huntteri expanding geographically" says Martin Appelfeldt, CEO of WeSports.

“Huntteri is looking for growth in the Nordic countries. The partnership with WeSports will open the door to the Swedish market and make us a more attractive player in the eyes of leading cycling brands. This will also have a positive impact on our retailers' selection and business," comments Juho Huttunen, CEO of Huntteri.

In addition to new markets, the partnership will give Huntteri the opportunity to expand its distribution portfolio with new brands and new products from WeSports’ broad portfolio of proprietary brands. WeSports also brings leading expertise within digitalisation.

“For Huntteri the number one priority is to work with our customers and support their activities, a bicycle is a product that needs to be researched and tested before a purchase decision is made and it also needs to be continuously maintained throughout its life cycle. Bike shops will continue to be the cornerstone of the bike trade, and Huntteri will continue to concentrate on this. However in a new digitalized world the partnership with WeSports will provide us with significant expertise to support our retailers with many new commerce-enhancing solutions that will support their customer's needs”, says Juho Huttunen.
